A solid strategic planning process is critical to the long-term success and health of any organization. Intel IT has been able to better respond to the dynamic nature of our business since implementing an IT strategic planning process two years ago. As a result, we have been able to better align IT investments with Intel corporate strategies, and better manage our IT budget to improve the business value of IT.
Cloud computing is changing the way Intel IT manages Intel data centers. We are adopting cloud computing as part of our data center strategy to provide cost-effective, highly agile back-end services that boost both employee and business productivity.
To support IT consumerization, Intel IT is shifting focus to deliver services to any device. By taking advantage of a combination of technologies and trends—such as ubiquitous internet connectivity, virtualization, and cloud computing—we have an opportunity to redefine the way we provide services to meet user requirements. Intel calls the vision of seamless, consistent experiences across devices the Compute Continuum, and Intel IT has established a program to help deliver these capabilities.
Malcolm Harkins and Alan Ross discuss how Intel IT's radical new security architecture is enabling new usage models like cloud computing, IT consumerization, and social computing.
Das Kamhout and Ajay Chandramouly from Intel IT examine the enterprise cloud computing initiative at Intel. See how easy provisioning a server can be, and find out how a worldwide technology corporation can increase productivity and save in a big way by deploying a private cloud.
With the fast pace of the changing technology landscape and new usage models such as cloud computing, IT consumerization, and social computing, security remains one of the highest priorities for IT. Ilene Aginsky (IT@Intel) decided to sit down with Intel's CISO, Malcolm Harkins, and ask his perspective on these various security challenges.
